Who Can Apply?

The scholarship is open to all freshman engineering students who meet the following criteria:

  • Join the Team: Become a free student member of the UBC ASHRAE Chapter.
  • Academic Excellence: Hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or be in the top 30% of your class.
  • First-Year Status: Be enrolled as a first-year student in an eligible post-secondary institution.

ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer by, Mark Fly - Wednesday, November 8th, 2023

 

ASHRAE BC welcomes ASHRAE Distinguished LecturerMark Fly to our November meeting. HVAC units are rated and certified to defined metrics and in many cases, must meet government regulated minimal standards before being sold. Designers of systems need to understand what these ratings mean in order to apply properly. Presentation will cover Full and Part Load Performance,  What ratings cover and don’t cover, How these ratings effect Energy consumption and overall building performance, Environmental conditions that units are tested at to develop the ratings.

ASHRAE BC Dinner Meeting - Student's Night

A group of 10+ students joined ASHRAE BC dinner meeting on Wednesday, February 14 at Italian Cultural Centre. 

The students were able to network with many other professionals in HVAC+R industry during the  meeting. The guest speaker of the meeting, Barry Stephens, had a presentation on Passive House certified ERV/HRV and their design challenges.
